Over the past 10 years, my career has been focused on project services, transformation and technology recruitment, working closely with organisations as they navigate change, build capability and bring new ideas and technology to life.
Having now been with Keegan Adams for a year, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with our clients, understand where their needs are evolving and identify a clear opportunity to expand our capability across Technology & Transformation.Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen increasing demand from our existing client base for specialist technology, transformation and project expertise. Building out a dedicated Technology & Transformation division felt like a natural next step, bringing together my experience in the market with the strong relationships and networks already established across Keegan Adams.

So, what does Technology & Transformation cover?

For us, it’s about supporting organisations through the people side of technology and business change — whether that’s delivering a major transformation programme, modernising technology platforms, adopting AI and automation, or bringing in the specialist technology talent needed to support growth. Our focus will broadly sit across three core areas:

  • Project Services & Transformation – project, programme and transformation professionals helping organisations deliver meaningful change.
  • AI & Automation – supporting businesses as they explore, implement and scale AI, automation and emerging technologies.
  • Technology & Platform Modernisation – connecting organisations with the technology specialists they need to modernise platforms, applications, infrastructure and digital environments.

While these areas can look quite different on the surface, they are becoming increasingly interconnected.

AI is changing how organisations operate. Automation is changing how work gets delivered. Technology platforms are continually evolving. And transformation programmes increasingly sit across all three.

That creates an interesting challenge for organisations: finding people who not only understand the technology, but also understand how to implement it, manage the change and ultimately make it work for the business.

Why now?

The technology recruitment market has changed significantly over the past few years.Businesses are no longer simply asking, “Who can we hire?” They’re asking more strategic questions around what capability they need, what skills they should build internally, where they need specialist expertise and how they can adapt their workforce as technology continues to evolve.

AI and automation have accelerated that conversation.

At the same time, organisations are still undertaking major transformation programmes, modernising legacy environments and investing in new platforms and digital capabilities.

For us, that means recruitment needs to go beyond simply filling a role. It’s about understanding the broader project, transformation or technology challenge and helping clients find the people who can genuinely contribute to the outcome.

Introducing Sean

To help build this function, I’m really pleased to have recently welcomed Sean to Keegan Adams.Sean comes from a very similar recruitment background to mine, with extensive experience across technology recruitment and a strong understanding of the market, clients and candidates.

He’ll be leading our Technology offering, working across areas including technology delivery, platforms, engineering and the specialist technical capability organisations need as they modernise.

What made Sean such a natural fit was not only his recruitment experience, but the fact that we share a similar view of where the market is heading and, importantly, how we want to work with clients and candidates.

What are we seeing in the market?

Having both spent a significant amount of time working across technology, project services and transformation, one of the biggest themes we’re seeing is that organisations are becoming increasingly focused on how they deliver change, not simply what change they want to make. There continues to be significant investment in transformation programmes across businesses, whether that’s driven by technology modernisation, operating model change, cost optimisation, regulatory requirements, customer experience or the need to create more efficient ways of working.

That is creating continued demand for experienced project and transformation professionals who can take an organisation from strategy through to execution.

At the same time, the way organisations are approaching project services is evolving. There is a greater focus on flexibility and access to specialist capability at the right point in the transformation lifecycle. For some businesses, that means building permanent teams; for others, it means bringing in experienced contractors or project specialists to help deliver a particular phase of a programme.

Technology is, of course, increasingly sitting at the centre of many of these transformation programmes. Cloud migration, platform implementations, data, AI and automation can all be significant technology projects in their own right, but their success ultimately depends on the people, processes and organisational change around them.

That’s where we see the real intersection between Technology, Project Services and Transformation.

AI and automation are creating new opportunities, but they’re also creating new transformation challenges. Organisations need people who can identify opportunities, build the business case, manage implementation, lead change and ultimately embed new ways of working.

We expect demand to continue developing across technology modernisation, data, AI, automation, cloud and cyber, but also across the broader project and transformation disciplines required to turn those investments into real business outcomes.

For us, that reinforces the importance of looking at the market holistically. The technology might be new, but organisations still need experienced people to plan it, deliver it, manage the change and make it stick.

What’s next?

The next stage is about building something that genuinely adds value to what Keegan Adams already does well.Sean and I will be working closely together to grow the Technology & Transformation offering, bringing together our respective experience and networks while continuing to build strong relationships with both clients and candidates.

We want to be a recruitment partner that understands the why behind a hire, not just the job description.

Whether an organisation is embarking on a major transformation, modernising its technology environment, exploring what AI means for its workforce, or simply looking for the right technology capability to support its next stage of growth, our aim is to help connect them with the people who can make that change happen.

It’s an exciting time to be building this function at Keegan Adams, and we’re looking forward to seeing where it goes.
